Kevin Curry and others including myself are putting out the word to
gather interesting in a "CityCamp" world tour of unconferences at the
intersection of local Gov 2.0, transparency, and citizen
participation. The initial Chicago CityCamp attracted a dynamic mix of
people coming from e-government, social media, civic engagement,
digital inclusion, software development perspectives, etc. – a truly
cross-cutting, silo busting group of participants.

If you want a city in your country (there is some special interest in
developing countries) on the prospecting list, it is important to say
    something now.

A great way to stand up and be counted is to join the main CityCamp
Exchange online group and post to this topic:

E-Democracy.org will be doing all it can to support these important
convenings and continue to support the main online exchange among
participants. I encourage other organizations to step up and
    contribute as well.

Subject: [CityCamp Exchange] City Camp World Tour?
    To: citycamp@forums.e-democracy.org

    City Campers,

Over the past several months I've fielded many questions about when and
where the next City Camp will happen.  City Camp
    DC – http://barcamp.pbworks.com/CityCampDC – already happened.  As a
result of those questions – and some convincing by a
handful of you – I've started thinking seriously about the answer(s).

In a nutshell, I'm thinking about a City Camp "world tour" starting in 2010
and continuing through 2011.  I've been in contact with potential local
partners in Philadelphia, London, and Edmonton.  Additionally, I've be asked
about feasibility of conducting City Camps in developing nations:  Africa,
India, Indonesia.  The Code for America cities make sense, too.

Ultimately it will take committed, local partners to determine where City
Camp World Tour (CCWT) will land.  I'll need help finding facilities,
caterers, sponsors, and most importantly:  local government participants.

So, I'm appealing to you all today for help finding those local partners.
Based on highly scientific research I'm most interested in these cities:

    Boston
    Boulder
    Philly
    Seattle
    Washington, D.C.
    Miami
    Austin
    Atlanta
    New York
    London, UK
    Helsinki, Finland
    Mumbai, India
    Ahmedabad, India
    Kigali, Rwanda
    Nairobi, Kenya
    Johannesburg, South Africa
    Manila, Philippines
    Bangkok, Thailand
    Edmonton, Canada
    Galway, Ireland
    St. Petersburg, Russia
    Auckland or Wellington, New Zealand
    (Australia)
    (Mexico)
    (Central/South America?)

But I'm open to working on a City Camp wherever I can find a local partner.
Please contact me directly ff you are interested in becoming a local
partner and are confident that you can handle the responsibility.  Please
also share this with your other networks.

    Thank You,
    Kevin
