At OpenKollab, we take the view that we all, both as individuals and groups, belong to many overlapping “ecosystems”. These ecosystems are collections of individuals and collective entities that share common goals and practices. We believe that making these ecosystems visible and openly acknowledging the relationships and inter-dependencies within them is the first step towards large-scale collaboration.
The first ecosystem we are mapping is our own, recognizing the most active groups and institutions on this page:
The Foundation for Peer-to-Peer Alternatives
p2pfoundation.net
The P2P Foundation functions as a clearinghouse for open/free, participatory/p2p and commons-oriented initiatives. They aim to be a pluralist network to document, research, and promote peer to peer alternatives.
Appropedia
Appropedia.org
Appropedia is a knowledge bank for practices, technologies, designs and project information in sustainability and development. Appropriate technology, water, energy, green living, public health and international development are among the topics covered. It uses an open wiki platform open and invites contributions from all, including academics, students and organizations.
