About OK
OpenKollab is a community of independent practitioners of open collaboration – engineers, organizers, entrepreneurs and researchers – who gather here to pool our resources and align our efforts around high-impact projects.
How to get involved
Most OK activity occurs in two engagement spaces: the mailing list and the wiki. We welcome you to work in both.
Mailing List
The mailing list is home to daily discussion by OpenKollab’s membership. It’s where we coordinate projects, explore new ideas, and generally keep each other up-to-date. Feel free sign up and just listen in, and add to the discussion at your convenience. The list is currently hosted as a google group, so you’ll need to register there. Remember, all list posts are public, and are displayed on the OK blog homepage.

Wiki
We use a WagN wiki to store most of the information related to OK that is not sufficiently “cleaned up” to be housed on the blog. A WagN wiki is a unique hybrid of a traditional wiki and a database, allowing to use it flexibly in a variety of contexts.
Who’s working here
OpenKollab is an open community of practice which anyone is welcome to join. There is no formal organizational structure, and we try to keep things as “flat” as possible. More than 40 participants have created a user profile on our wiki. OpenKollab was founded by Suresh Fernando, Matt Cooperrider, and Stephan Dohrn.
While all three founders are still active participants, Suresh continues to be the engine that drives OpenKollab. He constantly integrates new ideas and projects, encourages members to contribute, and leads through action.
His background in finance combined with his extensive research in open collaboration led him to develop the OK Pooled Fund, now OpenKollab’s core project. In addition to OpenKollab, Suresh works with Radical Inclusion to help organizations use open collaboration to achieve their goals.
We also recognize certain organizations as members of the OpenKollab ecosystem. Click the link to see a list of groups and institutions that are working closely with us on some or all of our projects.
